Not sure if this is Polish or German or whatever... But it has many things I love in it and not too many that husband likes...however he does eat some of it. I like to make this when I get in the mood for some of those foods I grew up with but I don't have the hours to make a Pork Roast with all the fixings.. What I did...
Pork and Red Cabbage
- Pork Chops or Pork loin steaks
- 1/2 of a large head of Red Cabbage shredded
- 2 large apples (I used Fuji this time.)slices small or in small cubes
- 1 large onion sliced thin
- 2-3 large cloves garlic minced
- 3 heaped tablespoons of Brown Sugar
- 1/3-1/2 cup of wine vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive Oil
In non-stick skillet put in some olive oil, when hot, brown pork. When pork is browned remove from pan and add onion, garlic, cabbage and apples. Put lid on and let this sweat a little, give it a stir and add brown sugar, vinegar, and salt and pepper. Put the pork back in the skillet and cover. Let this simmer on low flame until the pork is cooked thoroughly. Serve with mash potatoes
Garlic Bread
- Store bought Ciabatta
- Butter
- Garlic sliced thin
Cut ciabatta in half, spread with butter, toss garlic on top. Broil until golden brown.
